The fighter jets from Cristina Perincioli’s experimental short film NICHTS (FRG, 1968) fly into the forest for a wartime romance in HELDINNEN DER LIEBE (G, 1996). Two lesbian officers escape the world war, which is staged as a silent comedy, by traveling through time to the Brandenburg Gate. In PASHKE UND SOFIA (Germany 2003), Karin Michalski captures transmasculine ways of life in rural Albania, with long takes and intimate interviews, and in IN DEN BINSEN (G 2020) Christoph tries to finally tell his mother about his boyfriend at a hunting lodge in Bavaria. Finally, Till Kleinert’s COWBOY (G 2008), presented as a horror-esque narrative, blurs the line between the hunter and the hunted—a real estate agent searching for new investment prospects in the countryside is seduced on an estate and becomes entangled in a dangerous game. Christoph Heller’s ÜBERWACHUNGSKAMERA (Germany 2006) will precede the screening.
Curated by Toby Ashraf and Sophie Holzberger.
